Adult Curriculum

Our adult program is a martial arts general education program.  After students master these basics (about 1-2 years), they can pursue more specialized training on a student-by-student basis.  The requirements listed below are a pre-requisite for all other training programs.

San Do Kuen Adult Martial Arts Basic Training Program

All skills in the basic training program are taught every week, and are the basis for expansion, progression, adaptation and promotion.  All promotions are performance based and at the sole discretion of the Head Instructor.  Students are not required to wear belts to signify their rank, but may choose to do so if they wish.

WEAPONS

(White – Yellow)

  • Stick:  Single Sinawali (1 stick)
  • Knife:  Single Sinawali (standard grip)
  • Staff:  Single Sinawali (short range)

EMPTY HAND SELF DEFENSE:  5 COUNT BLOCKING

(Yellow – Purple)

  1. Double Palm
  2. Elbow Shield
  3. Parry & Low Block

  5. Parry & Inside Elbow

KICKBOXING

(Purple – Orange)

  • Stances:  Even, Orthodox, Southpaw
  • Guards: Front Cover, Orthodox, Southpaw
  • Pivoting:  Outside, Inside
  • Punching:  4 Corners Hook Punching
  • Footwork: Diagonal (R,L), Pyramid Lead Change
  • Kicks:  Lead Straight Kick (R, L), Rear Roundhouse (R,L)

GRAPPLING

(Orange – Blue)

  • Elbow Drag: Takedown, Reverse to Shoulder Throw, Floor Arm Bar, Choke, Heel Pick
  • Clinch: Pummel (up & down), Knee Strikes, Low X-Block
  • Guard: Breaking the Guard, Reversing the Mount
