Kickboxing is becoming increasingly popular for those looking to get in better shape and to learn basic fighting skills. Whether you're an experienced fighter, or just looking for an activity to help keep you in shape, come try Kickboxing. You won't be disappointed.
Our kickboxing program focuses on fitness first and strong basic techniques.
Our Kickboxing program includes:
- Aerobic Exercise: Jump rope, shadow boxing, footwork drills, drills set to music to improve timing and rhythm.
- Anaerobic Exercise: Endurance training, bag workouts both boxing and Muay Thai. Air shield kicking drills. Focus mitt drills. Push-ups and abdominal workouts.
- Stretching: To improve flexibility and body motion.
- Kickboxing - Muay Thai - and our Submission class covers the three ranges of combat.
And you don't need to spend a fortune to get started: all you need is handwraps to begin. Our Pro Shop can order any other gear that you'll need.
At Gig Harbor Karate Academy you will learn Kickboxing, but you will also get the best techniques from Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jeet Kune Do, and American Boxing as well. In my experience I have found that this particular combination of techniques is very effective for self-defense scenarios as well as martial arts competitions and tournaments.
