Codes of Conduct

Student’s Code of Conduct

  1. As a student, my primary goal is learning.
  2. I will try to come to every class with an “empty cup,” and keep an open mind.
  3. I will avoid competing against my fellow students.
  4. I will not teach my fellow students unless I am instructed otherwise.
  5. I will respect my training partner by keeping myself under control.
  6. I will follow the school rules at all times.
  7. When practicing with weapons I will mind my surroundings and be responsible and safe.
  8. I will not engage in horseplay in the dojo.
  9. I will take responsibility for all my own equipment and have it ready for every class.
  10. If I arrive early to the dojo I will remain quiet, so as not to disturb the class in session.

Parent’s Code of Conduct

  1. I understand that my child’s regular attendance is the key to his/her success.
  2. It is my responsibility to remain up-to-date on the school schedule, closures and special events.
  3. My role is to support my child’s training in every way possible.
  4. I will not instruct my child(ren) on how to perform martial arts movements during class or at home.  If my child has a question I will direct them to the sensei.  This statement refers to the technical aspect of the movements – the exact range of motion and body positioning involved in the movement. Parents are encouraged to point out to their kids if their movements look “sloppy,” or “weak.”
  5. I will support the school and its instructors in every way possible, especially by generating referrals.
  6. I will follow all school policies and adhere to all school rules.
  7. I will support the GHKA pro-shop by purchasing all of the required training gear from the school.  I understand that my purchases are extremely helpful in keeping the school financially healthy.
  8. If I have a concern about any aspect of the Academy it is my responsibility to communicate that concern.
  9. If my child has been sick (persistent cough, runny nose, fever, or vomiting) I will keep them home to prevent the illness spreading to the other students.

  2. Spectators will remain in the viewing areas and are not allowed in the training area.
  3. Spectators will silence their cell phones while watching class.
  4. Spectators may take photos with instructor permission.
  5. Spectators may not video tape any segment of class with a video camera or a mobile phone.
  6. Spectators with children will supervise their children at all times.
